The Making Life Easier Program


Life can be complex and confusing

King County provides an important benefit to help you resolve problems and improve the quality of your life -- the Making Life Easier program.

Making Life Easier is a benefit provided by the county as a FREE service to benefit-eligible county employees, their dependent family members, and anyone living in the employee’s household.

All information discussed with a counselor is confidential and can be disclosed only with your permission or as required by law.

Counseling services

Making Life Easier provides professional counseling to help you resolve personal concerns that may include:

  • stress or anxiety
  • depression or thoughts of suicide
  • parenting, family, or relationship issues
  • domestice violence or sexual abuse
  • grief or loss
  • eating disorders
  • alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc.

Financial and legal services

Making Life Easier provides financial and legal consultation on issues that include:

  • budgeting, financial/retirement planning
  • bankruptcy and credit problems
  • taxes, wills, and estate planning
  • divorce and child custody
  • immigration
  • tenant’s rights

Please note, the legal services of Making Life Easier do not include consultation or legal assistance involving the client's employer (regardless of the employer).

Child care services

Making Life Easier offers a range of services to help you care for your children, including:

  • parenting advice
  • finding day care or nanny services
  • evaluating local children’s programs
  • locating tutoring resourcess

Adult and elder care services

Many of us will be called on to care for our disabled or aging relatives. Making Life Easier provides counseling on adult and elder care services throughout the U.S., including:

  • evaluating short/long-term care options
  • locating Medicare/Medicaid resources
  • answering medical and medication questions
  • addressing transportation and safety concerns
  • support to caregivers

With Making Life Easier, you’ll always have the right information on adult and elder care services, no matter where your relatives live.
