Biking:
- Cascade Bicycle Club offers an events calendar, free daily rides, bicycle education classes and more. You don’t need to be a member to participate in daily rides, and they’re offered for every level of rider.
- REI offers “Bicycle Maintenance 101” and “Basic Bike Maintenance for Women” free of charge at several locations. Go to http://www.rei.com/stores/index.jsp to search for a class near you.
- Gregg’s Cycles offers classes and event listings as well as a monthly newsletter you can read online or receive via email for free.
Hiking:
- Want to contribute to trail maintenance and meet others who are interested in keeping hiking trails safe and accessible? Washington Trails Assocation offers volunteer opportunities to work on trails for most fitness levels. This is a great way to get involved. WTA also lists a hiking guide and resources for your trip. Don’t forget the 10 essentials.
- American Trails lists resources for information and trails in Washington state.
Walking:
- Public Health — Seattle and King County lists resources for walking, including walking maps and local organizations.
With over 175 miles of regional trails connecting to hundreds of local and state trails, the King County region has one of the best trail networks in the nation. King County Parks and Recreation maintains the King County Regional Trail System site including trail system highlights, maps, and volunteer opportunities.
Learn
- Lake Wilderness Arboretum - Saturday, March 1, 9 a.m.-noon. Join volunteers who completely manage Lake Wilderness Arboretum, help maintain and expand the arboretum's collections, learn new gardening skills. Call 425-413-2572 for details.

Seattle to Portland Bike Ride – July 12 -13th Join this classic 200 mile ride – do it in one day or two. Registration is limited – call 206-522-2403 or go to www.cascade.org.
Bicycle Saturdays and Sundays –On July 12th and 20th, Lake Washington Boulevard will be closed to vehicles from 10 am to 6 pm making it the perfect, scenic bike route. More info at www.seattle.gov/parks or 206-684-4075
